Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. We go to the old town for a bit of sightseeing: Durbar Square, the new king’s palace, some temples. The leader arranges necessary group travel papers. Hotel.
Day 2 A full-size city-tour with a guide. The places of interest: Pashupatinath temple on the bank of the sacred river Bagmati, for Shiva worshipers. The bank is the place for cremation rituals (and for ablutions too); Buddanath, one of the biggest and oldest buddhistic stupas; Swayambhunath – a cluster of buddhistic and hinduistic temples, monasteries and edifices on a hill called “Monkeys’ Mountain”. From its top we can see the whole green valley of Kathmadu surrounded by majestic peaks. Hotel.
Day 3 Today we fly to Lukla in a small plane (45min) and from Lukla walk either to the village of Phakting (2640m, 2,5hr) or Mondjo (2800m, 4hr), depends on our stamina.
Day 4 We follow a path (4hr) in the narrow Dudh Kosi gorge and come to Namche Bazar village (3400m).
Day 5 Rest day in Namche Bazar.
Day 6 We come down to the river and walk up (4hr) to Tengboche monastery (3860m).
Day 7 We follow a path, which climbs up, goes over some picturesque bridges, comes to the tree line and goes through low shrubs, In 5hr we reach Dingboche village (4340m).
Day 8 A minor rise the path leads us to a plateau, then to the Khumbu glacier moraine. Today we reach Lobuche village (4940m), or Gorak Shep (5170m).
Day 9 If we have overnighted at Lobuche, we get up early, at 4am, have some tea and leave. In 2hr, walking over glacier screes, we come to Gorak Shep. From here we climb Kala Patar peak (5600m), descend to the village, rest there and go on, down to Periche village.
Day 10 Today we part with the members of the group who joined us for the trek only. They go to Lukla (via Namche Bazar) with a local guide. The rest of the group walk to Chukung village (3-4hr). Night in a guest-house.
Day 11 We reach today (3-4hr) the Base Camp for Island Peak and pitch tents (our trekkers descend from Namche Bazar to Lukla and overnight there). Camp.
Day 12 Ascent of Island Peak (6130m), 6-7hr up and 3-4hr down to BC. Camp. (The trekkers fly to Kathmandu and stay in a hotel).
Day 13 Reserve day for bad weather. Camp.
Day 14 Today we descend to Pangboche village (3985m), which is the Base Camp for Ama Dablam Peak. Some rest, overnight in a guest house.
Day 15 We part with the members who joined us for the trek and Island Peak only. With a local guide they leave for Namche Bazar. The rest of the team go to the first camp at 5600m. Camp.
Day 16 We move to the second camp at 6000m. (The trekkers descend to Lukla).
Day 17 Move to the assault camp at 6300. (The trekkers fly to Kathmandu and overnight there). Camp
Day 18 Ascent of Ama Dablam (6856m) and descent to 6300m camp. Camp.
Day 19 Reserve day. Camp.
Day 20 Descent to BC and further to Pangboche village.
Day 21 Descent to Namche Bazar.
Day 22 Descent to Lukla.
Day 23 Flight to Kathmandu. Hotel.
Day 24 Flight home.
