Trip Overview
Mt. Gasherbrum II (8,034m) is the 13th-highest peak in the world. It is located in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. Gasherbrum II is a part of the Gasherbrum massive, located in the Karakoram region of the Himalayas. Mt. Gasherbrum is a remote group of high peaks in the Karakoram, Mt. GII. Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II can be combinedly and climbed in a single season. The name "Gasherbrum" comes from the Balti words, Rgasha meaning "Beautiful" and Brum meaning "Mountain.
There are no steep slopes or technical climbing challenges, which makes this the safest and easier peak to climb than other 8000m peaks. This can be taken as the starting 8000m peak for those who are willing to summit all 14 8000m peaks of the world. The southwest ridge is the preferred route to the summit of G II, which involves less amount of risk while climbing.
Gasherbrum II (8034m/26,362ft) is part of the Gasherbrum group which consists of six peaks, two of them (G I and G II) over 8000m high. The first exploration of the mountain was made in 1909 by an Italian expedition under the leadership of the Duke of Abruzzi. One of the members of the expedition was Vittorio Sella, the quality of whose photos has not been surpassed to the present day. The first ascent of G II was made on July 7, 1956, by three members of an Austrian expedition under the leadership of Fritz Moravec, via the Southwest Ridge. Apart from Moravec himself, Sepp Larcher and Hans Willenpart reached the summit after a bivouac at 7700m. The second ascent was made as many as 20 years later by a French-Polish expedition.
" We await to serve you our service and share our experience with you "
Basecamp (5,000m/ 16,404ft)
Flight to Skardu, drive to Jhola, and further trek to basecamp and reached at the elevation of 5000m with great views of Karakoram. After 6 days of the trek, you reach BC of Mt. GI. At basecamp, you will be awaited by our best Sherpa Team. Seven Summit Treks have the best setup of basecamp. You will be spending about a month at basecamp. Each member will get a separate member tent and dining in sharing, kitchen, shower, Communication, and toilet tents. Before we climb the mountain, we make a big puja ceromancy at base camp for good luck and safe climbing.
Camp I (5,900m/19,357ft)
Once you reached basecamp, your personal climbing Sherpa or team leader will review basic and advanced training at basecamp. For the best acclimatization, once fix rope is fixed by the Sherpa team you will climb to camp I which lies at the altitude of 6000m. In this section of climbing, you will encounter many crevasses and the flat long route with snow. This will take you about 6 to 7 hours of climbing. We will have frequent rotation on camp I and back to base camp. Till camp I, the climbing route is the same as GI and GII.
Camp II (6,400m/20,997ft)
The climbing from camp I to camp II is quite Steve. In this section of climbing, you need to cross the Banana ridge which is quite tough climbing. there will be fixed rope. This section of climbing will take about 4 to 5 hrs.
Camp III (7,400m/24,278ft)
The Climbing section from camp II to camp III is only an ice section. Where you will climb along with "The Japanese Couloir", It will take 5 to 6 hours. You will be climbing with the climbing Sherpa and with a fixed rope. It's a bit risky with avalanches While climbing, your personal climbing guide will be always together. This section of climbing will take 5 to 6 hours.
Summit (8,035m/26,362ft)
The most important day is summit day. It is the main goal for all the climbers. It's a day that climbers dream about. So, most of the climbers begin their summit push at late night and will walk to the summit for about 8 to 10 hours and will reach the summit about 8-10 am (morning). The Summit of Mt. K2 is stunning. You will be mesmerized by the beautiful view of different 8000m and many beautiful mountains of Pakistan Himalaya. On the same day after taking some pictures, you will walk down to camp II or basecamp, which will take about 6 to 7 hours. descending from the summit is also a difficult part of this expedition so safety descent is also an important part of summit day. Seven Summit Treks will have one climbing Sherpa with one member from camp IV to summit day and till back to basecamp. SST guide will carry oxygen cylinder of Members and himself. For the safe summit of Mt. GI, SST will always have a guideline of the best weather forecast, communication, and back support from the basecamp leader. Rope fixing up to the summit is the major duty of our climbing Sherpa so we highly admire our Sherpa to fix ropes, breaking trails, and making all the effort to get the group reaches the summit of Mt. GII.
